And the second of these posts today is dedicated to the fantastic (and fantastically named) Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band.
Billing themselves as a classic rock band, the Seattle quintet gathered a rapid following on the back of a number of comically based viral videos, rather than the release of music. They were signed to Dead Oceans on the back of this success and have been touring the States ever since.
The first track I found was Leaving Trails - a stunning old style rock & roll song. To me, it sounds very like the Walkmen and the Stokes. The staccato guitar style, lo-fi and grainy vocals and a pretty solid drum bear - you can't really go wrong with it!
The single is available for free download on a number of blogs and the ever reliable http://www.spin.com.
