New Music: Wild Nothing

Been a while since I did one of these features, so today I'm doing two to make up for it!

First off it's Wild Nothing, the solo project of Virginia born Jack Tatum. Anyone who has kept a close eye on the music industry lately will see the emergence of dozens of dream pop acts and while the vast majority fail to grab my attention [Aside from Grizzly Bear last year, Beach House and Toro Y Moi this year, I can't think of many who I still listen to!], Wild Nothing stood out for me.

A textured production, he owes quite a lot to the guitar work of Johnny Marr and the synth sounds of the Cure. It is a glorious mix and has brought Tatum some deserved attention, with pitchfork also tipping him earlier this week [I genuinely had heard of him before, just no time to post!!]

The popularity of this shoegaze-dreamy pop style of music is ever growing, and as a result more and more acts like Wild Nothing are finding their way onto blogs and music sites. It's just refreshing to find one that actually deserves to be there for once!

Check out Chinatown, the lead single from the album Gemini which is out now, @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMIKnbjquVE
