Track Review: Cee-Lo Green "Fuck You"

Let's keep this one short anyway.

Cee-Lo Green releases his latest solo album The Lady Killer this coming October. To date, the only track I had heard from it was a haunting and unique cover of Band of Horses' No One's Gonna Love You - it shouldn't work, but man does it? Sublime. Today I listened to the latest release from the album: Fuck You.

Despite it's expletive title (and chorus), the track is actually rather sweet. It has the same soulful energy that we've come to expect from Cee-Lo due to his work with Gnarls Barkley, while his vocal is firmly in control here too. And that is where the strength of this track lies - his vocal is simply superb. One of the greatest voices in modern pop music.

I can't say much more about the track really - check it out below. Apologies for the dodgy video. Youtube wouldn't let me watch the proper version for some reason so I had to steal the embed from another fan-made version.... Sound is still great though. Could be a late contender for album of the year if he continues like this!
