Album News: Interpol & The Walkmen

Not together unfortunately...

As previously reported, Interpol will be releasing their fourth album later this year. It will be a self-titled release and will be the last to feature bassist Carlos D, as he has left the band since the record was finished to be replaced by David Pajo.

Well word has reached us now that Interpol have returned to their former label Matador (their last release was issued by Capitol) and that the album will hit stores in America on September 14th [likely to be the Friday before here].

As well as this great news, it has now been confirmed that fellow New Yorkers The Walkmen will release their new album on the same day. The album, called Lisbon, will be released by Fat Possum and frontman Hamilton Leithauser has said that "The instrumentation is very simple, and then there's a very loud vocal and a softish drum. There is a slapback guitar on everything."

May was a stellar month for releases with Broken Social Scene, the National, Villagers, Cathy Davey, the Black Keys, the Hold Steady and more all releasing work, could September be the same?
