New Music: Kowalski

I cant (and wont) claim to have just come across these guys in my trawls of the interweb. I found them on the ever fantastic http://www.mp3hugger.com/ - a haven for new and unheard acts it must be said!

Kowalski hail from the most unlikely centre of cool: Bangor. That's the same Bangor that produced the hottest new indie kids on the block (except possibly the Drums) Two Door Cinema Club. Must be something in the water up there...

On their MySpace, they claim to fuse "echo-laiden guitars and synthesizers to create an upbeat shimmering dream pop for the modern age." That's not too far off. The 4 piece have had some lucky breaks in this country, touring with Ash, Snow Patrol and Two Door Cinema Club.

They released their second EP Take Care, Take Flight on April first and it is available at http://kowalski.bandcamp.com for just £5 sterling, as well as iTunes. Well worth a look I must say! Influenced by the likes of Grandaddy, Phoenix and Death Cab For Cutie, Kowalski utilise the same infectious rhythms as Two Door Cinema Club and some subtle, gorgeous vocals. They have a layered sound - don't think you'll discover all they have to offer on one listen. A great sound.
