New Music: Peter Wolf Crier

Well new to me at least.

Peter Wolf Crier is the Minneapolis duo of Peter Pisano and Brian Moen. The two wowed audiences at SXSW in recent weeks and word has been spreading pretty quickly since. Recently signed to JagJaguwar (home of Bon Iver, Volcano Choir and Okkervil River, amongst others) They keep it pretty simple - guitar and drums with the gorgeous vocals draped over them. It is not a new sound, though it is yet another fantastic showing of the sensation that has gripped the American mid-west in recent years. Think a lo-fi take on the indie folk phenomenon.

Their debut album, Inter-Be, will be released in the US on May 25th, though no date has been confirmed for us on this side of the pond. Hopefully we will be treated to it pretty soon after - if the two tracks I have heard, Untitled 101 and Crutch & Crane, are anything to go by it'll be something very special indeed!

Check them out, especially if you are a fan of the work of Conor Oberst and his crew, or the Jagjaguwar label mates of Peter Wolf Crier: Bon Iver, Volcano Choir, etc.

Unfortunately my ability to download/upload videos has been hampered in recent weeks (I'm working on fixing it...) so you'll have to click this link to find out more!
