New Music: Harlem

The second in my series of bands who hit big at SXSW...

Today it's Harlem. According to last.fm they are "an Austin (by way of Nashville) thrash-trash-punk band covered in barbecue sauce and feathers."

Sounds fun doesn't it? That's pretty much what I'd describe them as too really. The track Friendly Ghost sounds very like a lot of the "indie" that was coming out of the UK in the first half of the last decade - staccato guitars, sharp vocals...

Let's just say these guys would have fit perfectly into the New York scene about 7 or 8 years ago alongside the Strokes, the Rapture and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Ramones, New York Dolls, Television influenced modern day indie-punk fusion.
