Blur: Fool's Day

Well that's pretty damn good I must say!

April 17th saw the most hyped Record Store Day to date (truth be told I genuinely thought it was the first such was the attention it was receiving!) Quite possibly, the most anticipated release was the first track put out by Blur since 2003's Think Tank, entitled Fool's Day.

At just 2 minutes and 26 seconds, the track is rather brief. It begins with a drum beat that bares a strong similarity to the opening of Song 2 but evolves into a rather mellow Kinks-esque masterclass. A reminder of what all the fuss was always about with Blur. Albarn's vocals sound as good now as they have ever been and the lyrics are just simply perfect, seemingly chronicling Albarn's daily life.

I can only say so much about it but you wont get a real feeling of what the track is all about until you get your hands on it. Luckily the nice guys that are Blur (or the suits behind them...) are giving away the track for free via: http://www.blur.co.uk/ so there's no excuse to miss out!
